Matt Brooks was elected as Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller in November of 2024. He sees the Clerk’s main role as being the independently elected keeper and protector of the County’s records and finances.
Mr. Brooks, who grew up in Gulf Hammock and is a fifth-generation resident of Levy County, graduated from Williston High School, obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Relations from the University of North Florida and honorably served his country in the United States Army. While serving his country, he was awarded the United States Armed Forces Meritorious Service Medal for his distinguished service while deployed to the Balkans Region in support of Operation Joint Guard.
Prior to being elected Clerk, Mr. Brooks served as a Levy County Commissioner for eight years and a Williston City Councilman for three years. Mr. Brooks has also owned and operated multiple small family businesses in Levy County. His family actively worships at the First Methodist Church of Williston. Mr. Brooks has served on the Board of Directors for the Williston Youth Athletic Association, the Williston Central Christian Academy and is a member of the Williston Rotary Club.
Mr. Brooks lives in Williston with his wife, Angie, a local business owner, their daughters, Baylin, Berkley, Brityn, and their son, Bowen.
