Know Before You Go – Local Government Map 6/22/2025

The Levy County Clerk of Court released a newcolor-coded map today featuring stars and precise locations of the main government offices in and immediately around the Levy County Courthouse. This updated map was created to streamline navigation for citizens seeking in-person assistance to various county offices.

Clerk of Court Matt Brooks noted, “We often hear from citizens who are unsure where to go for specific services. We also greet citizens that have not visited the courthouse in quite some time assuming all government offices are still in the same location as their last visit. This map was created to provide clear guidance and make accessing local government offices straightforward.”

The offices detailed on the map are as follows: Clerk of Court, Judicial Offices/Courtrooms, Supervisor of Elections, Tax Collector, Property Appraiser, State Attorney, Public Defender, Veteran’s Affairs, & the offices of the Levy County Board of County Commissioners.

Jury Phone Scam Alert – 5/19/2025

Jury phone scams have seen a resurgence in recent months. The most recent scam is someone impersonating court officials and calling members of the public to notify them of missed jury service. The caller has been requesting payment for a fine due to the missed service. If you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be a court official or from the Levy County Clerk of Court’s office, DO NOT give them your social security number, credit card number, or other personal information. Our office will not call you requesting such information for payment due to missed jury service. Do not fall prey to this phone scam and please make your friends, family and neighbors aware in case they get the same type of phone call.

Levy County Records: A Treasure Trove of History – 5/7/25

The Clerk of Court is the official recorder and custodian of all documents placed in the Levy County official records. Our goal is to provide access to the public while protecting and preserving these important records.

To ensure the preservation and protection of our county’s records, we have implemented the following process for public access, effective immediately:

1. Appointment Required: All individuals wishing to access the archives must schedule an appointment with the Clerk of Court office by calling 352-486-5266 Ext. 1229 or emailing [email protected]. Appointments will be scheduled during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8am – 5pm.

2. Supervised Access: An authorized county employee must accompany all visitors during their time in the archive room to assist with retrieving and properly handling documents. This ensures the protection of our irreplaceable records.

3. Document Security: No documents may leave the Clerk of Court’s offices. This policy is strictly enforced to safeguard our county’s historical assets.

Clerk of Court Matt Brooks understands the importance of public access, while protecting and preserving Levy County history.

“So much of our future lies in preserving our past.”
